The Parmentier’s have won numerous awards at our festival through the years, including the Morse Museum Award for Distinguished Work of Art in 2018.
Jim and Shirl Parmentier, from Mars Hill, North Carolina, have been making pottery together for over 40 years, designing and creating work that they find creative and functional. Each piece has a purpose and most pieces are touched by both artists in the design, the making or the carving. Known for their unique weaving and carving techniques, the ash fired clay pieces are distinct in their appearance. More than just art, they love creating items that the buyers can use and enjoy for many years.
