The Foundation

Founded in 2008, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Foundation’s mission has been to enhance art appreciation, art education and community spirit.  The Foundation supports The Children’s Workshop, The Leon Theodore Schools Exhibit, The Emerging Artists Program, The Image Review Workshop and Performing Arts at The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival.  It also funds the Jean Alice Oliphant Scholarship at Rollins College in Winter Park and The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Scholarship at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

Each year, more than one thousand children take the opportunity to display their creativity though easel painting and the museum workshops report more than 500 children per day take part in the hands-on art activities they provide. Each year more than 4,500 Orange County students have had the thrill of having their artwork showcased and judged at the Leon Theodore Schools Exhibit.

In 2023, the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Foundation established the festival’s newest artist award, the Monte Livermore Celebration of Nature Award. This annual cash award was made possible by a generous donation to the Foundation by the Family Members of the Estate of Robert Montbriand Livermore, Jr. (Monte). The award honors the memory of Monte, a beloved past WPSAF Co-President, passionate Patron, and true friend, and is funded by interest generated from the  donation. Monte’s participating family members include Phyllis L. and Fred K. Smith, Laura and Taylor C. Smith, Tammy Smith White and Thomas F. White.

The Internal Revenue Service approved the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Foundation, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation, as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in September 2008.
