Volunteers at the Festival

From the first years of The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival when the Junior League members wore orange berets and assisted with the set up and organization of the show, we have had thousands of committed community members who have volunteered with us.  Currently, volunteers are used to assist the active Board members with the Children’s Workshop, Merchandise sales, and Viewing.  The volunteer opportunities usually involve two to three hour shifts on Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the festival.  Volunteers work side by side with active and sustaining Board members and many times find themselves enjoying their time so much that they later become active members of the Board.

Children’s Workshop:  Assist the committee with the easel painting on Saturday and Sunday.  We have over 1500 children in two days who create masterpieces with washable poster paint.  This can be physically demanding work (replenish fresh water, clean paint brushes, hang wet paintings) but it is such fun being with the children!

Merchandise Sales:  Perform duties of sale of posters and t-shirts in one of three sales booths.  This may include rolling the posters and putting them into plastic bags or selling merchandise.

Viewing:  Walk with a Board member throughout the park and monitor the artist booths to assure compliance with the show rules and regulations.
